Baltimore Police Station

Return to Project pageThe Northern Police District landscape project in Baltimore City used 25 cubic yards of Full Circle mushroom compost over cardboard to prepare 2,500 square feet of planting beds in clay soil. Seventy volunteers worked a total of 260 hours to prepare the beds and plant 150 trees, shrubs and perennials. All the spring plantings survived over the very hot summer and a few dedicated volunteers did the weeding and watering. The use of the mushroom compost on top of wet cardboard was recommended by one of our partners, the Master Gardeners of Baltimore City. Additional plantings will be done in the spring of 2015 to fill in some of the gaps.
